What a pawn loan costs
Florida sets the frame: 30 days, a stated interest rate, and a written contract showing the principal, the interest, the maturity date and what happens if you do not redeem. Every number should be in front of you before you sign. If a shop will not put them there, that tells you something.
There is no application fee and no credit check. What the loan costs is the interest on what you borrow, and what you borrow is set by the collateral: what the item would resell for, discounted because the shop carries the risk of holding it.
What we lend against
Gold, silver and diamond jewelry. Luxury watches with the reference and condition checked. Laptops, phones, cameras and consoles that are signed out of your accounts. Power tools with batteries and chargers. Guitars, amps and keyboards. Collectibles that come with some paperwork.
The strongest collateral is documented, complete and in current demand. A watch with its box and card, a laptop with its charger, a tool kit with two healthy batteries. Those details move the number further than most people expect.
When a pawn loan is the wrong tool
If the item has no resale demand, the loan will be small or we will decline it. That is a fair answer rather than a negotiating position, and better to hear at the counter than to discover after you have signed.
If you are unlikely to come back for the item, selling pays more than a loan you default on. If what you need is one month of breathing room, the 30-day term plus an interest-only extension is built for that.
